Have you ever noticed that we sometimes are alot harder on our spouses than we are our friends? Why can’t we treat our spouses as if they were our friends? It may make the relationship easier. So, if you do something or say something hurtful to your spouse, think again. Is that something you would say to a good friend? You may find yourself argueing less.

When people marry, situations come up that were noticed before but not dealt with. So many of us reason with it thinking that it’ll go away or it’s not a big deal. However, marriage can sometimes magnify those issues to a point where it becomes a big problem. It may be a good idea to see a marriage and family counselor before deciding to get married. At that point, you need to be as vulnerable as possible and bring everything to the table. Its important to have your counselor interview you seperately. That way they can get an idea of who you truly are as an individual. They can access the issues impartially before bringing both of you together.

Since the 60’s, the divorce rate has increased more than 50%. The question is why? I believe it has to do with less people going to church. If you think about it, who created marriage to begin with? It’s God. When 2 people come together in marriage, they truly become one. God is there always. He is in our relationship. He is the one that can hold it together through good times and bad. He can keep that marriage strong.
